You clean your chain after the rain. You check the tyre pressure before a long ride. You have spent more hours picking the right helmet than most people spend picking a phone.
Then the ride ends, and the helmet goes on a chair.
Every ride ends the same way
The helmet goes on a chair, the floor, or wherever there is space, waiting to get knocked over and scratched. The gloves end up on the shoe rack, the jacket over a chair, and the keys wherever they landed. Then the next ride starts with hunting for all of it again.
It feels harmless. It is not, and the helmet is the part that pays for it.
What careless storage does to a helmet
Three things go wrong, and none of them show up on the first day.
The scratches
You buy a top-of-the-line helmet, but it gets scratched because it is placed on a shoe rack or left on the floor.
The damp liner
The padding soaks up sweat, but it never gets the breathing room to actually dry.
The shell itself
Stored carelessly, the shell can warp, crack, or weaken. That is damage you will not notice until it matters most.
Floor, hook, or a proper mount
Most riders end up with one of three answers. Here is how they compare.
- The floor scratches the shell constantly, never airs out the liner, and has nowhere for your gloves.
- A bare metal hook still scratches the shell and only partly airs the liner. It also looks like a coat hook.
- A mount that sits inside the helmet rests on the liner, not the shell, and leaves the helmet open all night so the padding can dry.
What a helmet actually needs
A helmet wants to rest on something shaped like the inside of it. That spreads the weight evenly, so no single spot of the padding gets pressed out of shape, and it keeps the helmet open so the liner can dry out between rides.
That is the idea behind the SKELMET mount. The skull goes inside the helmet, and its contact points are smooth and rounded, so the helmet rests on it without scratches or pressure marks. Full-face, open-face and modular helmets all sit on it.
One place for all your gear
The mount arm has hooks, and the whole mount is made to hold up to 10 kg. The helmet goes on the skull. The keys, gloves and riding jacket go on the hooks below it.

Putting it on the wall
The mount fixes to the wall with 3 screws, in four steps.
- Hold the wall plate against the wall at the height you want and mark through its 3 holes with a pencil.
- Drill the holes at the marked points. A 6 mm bit suits standard wall plugs.
- Push the wall plugs into the holes until they are fully inside the wall.
- Line the wall plate up over the plugs and fix it with the 3 screws supplied. Make sure it is tight and secure.
We do not recommend mounting it without drilling. Screws give it a solid hold against the wall, and that hold is what lets the mount carry 10 kg.
Where to hang it
Indoors. The mount is printed in PLA+, which will fade under months of direct sun. On a normal interior wall the colour holds.
